On this 4,000 acres of development, a total area of 1272.7 acres will be occupied M/s PROTON Bhd�s ambitious 1,000,000 car per year capacity second national car. The prestigious car plant shall be the main feature and act as the nucleus of growth for the city.
| A second catalyst of growth, which is the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris Main Campus, was planned in 1999, cover an area of 800 acres to accelerate the growth of the City. |
Besides the plant and the campus, other major components of the development consist of the 689.08 acres of the vendor industries, 783.84 acres of residential developments and 222.62 acres of commercial center.
The City also boasts a total of 232.01 acres of lakes and navigational waterway, 109.06 acres of botanical park, wetlands, railway system, piped gas utilities, various training facilities and state of the art telecommunication utilities, making it stand tall among its counterparts in Detroit and Toyota City.

The infrastructure development for Proton City includes 1 cloverleaf interchange, 3 diamond interchanges, 2 trumpet interchanges, 7km of dual/three carriageway/highway, 15.5MGD of storage reservoir, 232.01 acres of lakes, navigational channel, MSC status fiber optic ICT infrastructure, railway, gas pipes and etc.
Total estimated infrastructure development cost for Proton City is RM 897 million.
